Masquerade balls are events that you can go to wearing a mask so that no one can tell who you really are. The masks range from eloquent to creepy and allowed common folks to mingle with the elite without the fear of rejection. Are you lost inside the lonely game you play; lost in a masquerade? The lives of some Christians are continual masquerade balls. Because of their pride, they don’t really allow anyone to know who they are nor do they allow God to work on them and they become lost. Instead of living victoriously, they live lonely unfulfilled Christian-like lives.

Know God or no God

There is a television show called are you smarter than a 5th grader. They couldn’t do any grade higher than that because no one is smarter than a teenager. But on this show, adult contestants test their knowledge against the information being taught to 5th graders. You would think that most adults should excel in such elementary knowledge but they realize they don’t know as much as they think. Spiritually some of God’s people are the same way. When put to the test they really don’t know as much about God as they should.

Follow The Leader

Did you ever play the game follow the leader as a child? When you would line up behind the leader and then the leader moved around and everyone would have to mimic the leader's actions. Anyone who messed up or did not do what the leader did was out of the game. The last person standing other than the leader then became the new leader. The quality of the leaders in those games wasn’t really that important. It might be okay in a game but if you are following a bad spiritual leader it could result in your life being turned upside down.

There was a time that the United States would send missionaries to other countries to introduce them to the Gospel but now some of those same countries are sending missionary teams to America to evangelize to us. This nation which was built on Christian principles now needs to be reminded about God.

What Do You Really Know About God?

Some people claim to know God, some claim to have a relationship with Him. Some used to have a relationship with Him and now deny Him. Some never have and in their mind never will acknowledge that there is a thing called God. But no matter the person, no matter their spiritual condition, the question is still valid, what do you really know about God? People confuse religion with God but they are separate. People confuse church with God but they are separate. Across the board most people really do not know about God.

When we operate on anything other than God’s word we position ourselves short of the full blessings of God. The church has gotten into the bad habit of using worldly systems to define itself. Now we must keep in mind that we are command by scripture to follow the laws of the land as long as they don’t require us to depart from scripture. But there are some beliefs that have crept into the church that have no place in the life of a Christian. One of them is the lie of self-esteem.

In the last century, the word has become a semi-technical term in psychology, with different researchers giving the term slightly different nuances. The word self-esteem has been in our language for quite some time but in the past few generations our society has become engrossed with this thing called self-esteem. We are told to build it in our children and that by having a high level of it one can increase their chances of having a happy and prosperous life. One problem, it's a lie.
